Heraeus Electro-Nite Hosts Successful Workshop at VDM Metals with Leading German Steel Producers
On November 6, Heraeus Electro-Nite welcomed representatives from Germany’s leading steel producers to a hands-on workshop hosted at the VDM Metals plant. The event focused on practical strategies to optimize continuous casting and enhance measurement accuracy throughout steelmaking processes.
A key highlight was the in-depth introduction to CasTemp, the continuous temperature measurement system for tundishes, combined with liquidus temperature measurement to support improved casting stability and steel quality. Participants also received an exclusive first look at several new developments for the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), including the Chameleon System and the Falcon System for in-process oxygen measurement during power-on operations. The workshop featured an insightful plant tour through the VDM Metals steelmaking facilities, providing valuable real-world context to the discussed technologies.
In addition, Heraeus Electro-Nite introduced the upgraded Hydris hydrogen measurement system, now equipped with an advanced evaluation method featuring curve grading to significantly enhance data interpretation.
To round off the day, participants explored Nite-Vision, the digital platform that centralizes and visualizes all measurement data from Heraeus Electro-Nite technologies, enabling deeper analysis and more effective process optimization.
